Treatment of diarrhea, abdominal distention, inorganic poisoning.

– For diarrhea, take 2 capsules every 1/2 to 1 hour (maximum 16 capsules/day) or 3 capsules 3-4 times daily.

– For abdominal distention, take 4-15 capsules daily.

– For inorganic poisoning, take 30-50 capsules, children take 20 capsules.

– Concomitant use with cyanide, mineral acids, caustic alkalis, organic solvents, iron, ethanol, lithium, methionine, sorbitol. Patients with methanol poisoning, intestinal obstruction, anatomically-broken GI tract, haemorrhage or GI perforation.

– Patients with fructose intolerance.

– Children under 1 year.

Reduces absorption of most drugs from GI tract. Decreases effectiveness of methionine via adsorption. Decreases ipecac effect.

Keep in a dry place. Do not store over 30°C.

Activated charcoal is well tolerated and due to lack of toxicity, overdose requiring treatment is unlikely. The symtomps of overdose may contain constipation and intestinal obstruction. For treatment of overdose, a saline laxative may be administered to enhance the elimination of activated charcoal.
